LHASA
The capital of Tibet, cultural city with history dating back to 1300 years. Potala palace is the former seat of the Dalai Lama built in 1645. The palace contains 1000 rooms and 1000 shrines with 200,000 statues. Barkhor is the main market that surrounds the Palace. |

GYANGTSE (3800 m)
Gyangtse is located at 260 km south west of Lhasa and about 130 km from Gangtok) this trading town was the major stop on the legendary India –Tibet caravan route. The centrepiece in Gyangtse is Kumbum Monastery. |

SHIGATSE (3900 m)
Shigatse is about 150 km from Sikkim and 274 km to the west of Lhasa. It is Tibet's 2nd largest city. The highway runs alongside the river Yarlung Tsangpo (Bhramaputra) the city house one of the biggest statue of Maiterya Buddha in Tashilhunpo monastery. |
