Sandakphu-Phalutt falls in the National parks and is one of the most popular trekking trails in DGHC (Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council) the best season being late march to end may and then early Sept-December. This is a circular route, thus attracts hundreds of trekkers every season to enjoy the view of Everest ranges on Nepal side. Recently it’s a mandatory that a guide from the local area will join the group on daily payment for the local benefit.
ITINERARY
DAY 01
Darjeeling - Maneybanjang - Chitrey (2134 m):
Today drive from Darjeeling to maneybanjang for about 4hrs and then walk 4km to Chitrey for overnight camp.
DAY 02
Chitrey - Tonglu (3040 m, 9 km):
This day of walk will be of less stress and leisurely enjoying the nature. Evening camp or trekkers hut.
DAY 03 Tonglu - Gairibas (2625 m, 12 km, 4-5 hours):
The trek up to Phalutt can be on the jeep able road sometimes, after crossing Tumling and walking further to Gairibas.
DAY 04 Garibas - Sandhakphu (3636 m, 12 km, 5-6 hours):
The steep ascent passing via Kalipokhori and you are on the right top and it’s international boundary. Evening in the trekkers hut or camp out. Next day rise early and catch a view of all the beautiful peaks, Kabur, Jannu,Pandiam, Lhotse ,Makalu and of course the Khangchendzonga and Everest.
DAY 05
Sandhakphu - Banjang (3200 m, 12 km):
Today after seeing most of the peaks of this side of the world continue your trek to Banjang.
DAY 06 Banjang - Phalutt (3600 m, 12 km):
After b/fast trek up to Phalutt, still the junction of Nepal and Sikkim. Evening trekkers hut.
DAY 07
Phalutt - Ramam (1200 m):
This is one of the starenous day as you descend to Ramam through nee breaking slope.
DAY 08
Ramam - Rimbik (14 km): Today crossd sri Khola and reached Rimbik.
DAY 09
Rimbik - Darjeeling:
We drive back to Darjeeling 5hours by Jeep. Reach Darjeeling and evening free and easy.
