The trekking in north Sikkim holds lots of restrictions due to the rich concentration of Herbs and medicinal valued plants. Most of the Northern Sikkim portions are fall under RAP or PAP and National parks. But this particular trek route is one of the most tempting. The highest point one climb is Lhaba-Pass (4300m) the best part is one can start the trek from either side. It can be start from Tarum Chachu (HOT SPRING) and trek end at Youmthang in Lachung, or Start from Youmthang Lachung and then finish at Tarum chachu in Lachen side.
ITINERARY
DAY 01
Gangtok - Lachung (2400m, 125 km, 5-6 hours):
Today after having motored through beautiful lush green forest and several waterfalls, you are at Lachung. Check in a village lodge.
DAY 02
Lachung - Youmthang (3600m, 24 km, 2 hrs):
A drive through rhododendron valley for about two hours and reached Youmthang. Today acclimatize day and evening take a dip into hots-pring. Camp out or old bungalow.
DAY 03
Youmthang - Tsethang (3800m, 4 hours):
Today start the trek, this steep ascend for about 2-3hours will bring you above the cloud where you will enjoy the view of Langkyong khang and Dongkhya-ri. Camp out and stroll around.
DAY 04
Tsethang - Cave Camp (3000m):
Today trek across Lhaba –pass, which is about (4300m) and enjoy the view Brum Khangsey, and descend down the rhododendron valley to camp out in a cave. This valley is a paradise for nature lovers and you might come across musk deer if you are lucky enough. Evening Camp out.
DAY 05
Cave Camp - Tarum Hhotspring (2600m, 4 hours):
This stretch of trek through Gaint forest of silver fir and bamboo bush will bring you to Natural shower point. Tarum hot spring, enjoy the nature. Camp out.
DAY 06 Tarum - Roadside- Lachen / Lachung OR Gangtok:
Today if you decide to return the walk to roadside is only about 2-3hours where your car is waiting for taking you to onward destination.
The best part of this trek is it can be trekked from both the side and there is guarantee of having chance to take a dip in hotspring.
